Hantierek Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is lies south of Hantierek, Kushan River, Akto County, Xinjiang. It was named by Tian Guobang in 1985, and formally cited in The Paleozoic Erathem of Xinjiang in 1991.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone. Dominated by carbonate rock, intercalated with minor clastic rock, consisting of gray to gray-black micrite, bioclastic oolitic limestone, clayey limestone, dolomite and minor calcareous siltstone. Exposed thickness 3103.8 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Kushanhe Fm; coeval with the Heshilafu Fm in this same region
Upper contact
Uncertain: Fault contact at type section with the overlying Jurassic Kangsu Fm; but regionally the next younger formation is the Kalawuyi Fm
Regional extent
Distributed at Gaizi Village, south of Hantierek, Kushanhe, southeast of Akto County in NW−SE extension, with exposed width of 2−6 km and length 50 km
